Mix it Up
Mobiles are one of the fastest growing devices in the modern world and they become more and more integrated in our daily life, especially in the case of Students. The aim of the competition was to develop and design a solution that would enhance student life - either on campus, around town, or in residence.
Well starting from the very beginning the idea should be developed and for that a good research is a must. We ourselves are students as well and more or less have some general ideas what is students’ life like, what are their daily demands and wants. For us one of the most interesting things was the entertainment side, specifically about drinking cocktails and visiting clubs and pubs.
Our primary idea was to offer something unusual and very entertaining so that solution could be popular straight from the very first sight. For doing so we conducted a research, which can be said to be of a quite big size. As for our available resources and time we managed to question approximately 120 students, from the chosen 6 most famous universities around London, with specifically designed survey. The aim of the research was to find out the level by which contemporary students are engaged in the entertainment life. The big accent was focused on the likeness of Cocktails and visiting diverse places.
As we thought and expected the results were in favour to our core idea about offering solution related to this part of students’ life. To be quite proximate the detailed statistics we got were as follows:
Almost 96% of students sad that they liked parties with their friends and 85% liked drinking cocktails. 55% drank alcoholic drinks every week, 30% very rarely, 10 every day and 5 did not drink at all. 46% percent went to pubs and clubs several times a month, 19% several times a week, 21% once a week and 14% very rarely. It was a bit complicated for all students to find out information about desired cocktail, pub or club and almost 85% did not use their mobile phone in this process.
{All the hard-copy versions of the filled surveys are laid-back, in case of any interest to see them, and they do provide a strong argument supporting the above placed data.}
What we really do get from all these was that if we could develop a program with an attractive design and functionality suitable to the above expressed needs it could be very successful among most of the students and could highly enhance their student life...
As a result we managed to bring the idea into the reality and we got what you can see now; application with an impelling graphical design and extremely user friendly interface. Not to mention its functionality, which collides the huge database of well-known cocktails (their recipes, pictures, properties), Powerful search functionality for almost any kind of club or pub, Location search engine to find the nearest entertainment points (Restaurants, Bars, Pubs, Cafes) and many others which you could enjoy straight with a single click in the program.
