I want to ask any one about vodafone blackberry storm competition
Hi this is Hanno - I am working at Vodafone Australia in the new products and innovation team. Really like the new betavine interface!
Hi,
This is Alex,I've work on java me for almost two years.

Hi Nicholas,
we are debating this issue in the "Linux" category.
It seems the problem persists even on a clean install.

Thankyou for your help.

So, let's continue discussion under the Linux category.

Hi Lazarus,

this is exactly what I would have done i.e. hit F9! Although I would have forgot which F' number it was and worked my way up... :-) ...

This is more an issue with the package management system being stopped in mid flow? Most of the VMC files are installed into /opt/vmc holding bin, lib, includes, scripts, and shares. I can't see why this would have stopped the window manager from working?

There is a script that runs post install to put an vodafone icon on the window backdrop. The file that is changed is simpleui.rc. I'm guessing here but maybe if this got corrupted it could stop the manager from starting? However this is only done post install???

You can find info here on what is updated, and links off to Asus forums.

Let us know if you get any more issues on a clean install.

Kind regards, Nicholas.

PANIC!!!!

Hi Nicolas, while waiting for my vodafone key I decided to add Betavine to my repository, I followed all the procedures described here http://www.betavine.net/bvportal/web/linux_drivers/repository up to "The software will now be installed by the package management system. Quit synaptic, and exit the terminal window."

I did, but the system rebooted and all the graphical interface was completely lost.
I tried to reboot a few times, without succes, tried (with F9) to restore factory settings keeping user data, but even this procedure was useless. In the end I did a full restore to factory settings that gave me back a fully working virgin asus eee pc 901. But all user data were lost (luckily I had just started to play with his new netbook, so I hadn't really lost anything valuable).

Now I'm again with a virgin system, but something went wrong with vodafone mobile connect package installation.

Can anybody help me ?

Thankyou in advance.

Hi Nicholas,
thankyou for your suggestion!

Unluckily, I had requested to my usual local Vodafone shop an Internet Key on october 17th and I'm still waiting to receive it.

A delay a bit oversize even for our underdeveloped country...

I'll try a.s.a.p. (as soon as I can put my paws on an Internet Key), and I'll tell here if everything is fine for the italian localization of the vodafone key and of the asus eee 901 that I already (produly) own.

Thankyou again and I hope to write here soon, then !

Hello,

I'm Walter, a South African software developer/IT consultant, currently living and working in Britain. I've recently been convinced into taking up Vodafone's mobile broadband offering, and have as a result been sent the K3760 based USB stick. I run Linux/Ubuntu on most of my machines (and in any case, on all my mobile machines including the Dell Mini9 which I was intending to use it on), and am thus hoping to help speed development/support of this device on Linux (given that I now have it and its too late to swap/return the stick for a more widely supported one...)

Anyway glad to see these forums exist, and pleased to "meet" everyone!

Hi Lazarus,

sorry I missed this one, but just in case you are still trying! We have a well writtein 'How To' guide and a specific software build for the EeePC which is here .

This was built for the factory default Linux install of the machine (Xandros).

Let me know how you get on.

Kind regards, Nicholas Herriot.
